Miracle 04:04
Miracle I am ready, to be vulnerable I am ready to finally let go I want to be annoyingly in love I want let me guard down I want to step out on faith I want to dance out in the rain I need to quit running away ‘cause I’m always on the first train When an old bag lady waiting on the red line On the Northeast side Looked dead in my eyes and cried I said “You Good?” And she sighed, then replied Hook: Your miracle is waiting on you But it can’t come ‘til you’re ready So baby what you gon’ do? (repeat) I am ready to take a chance on life I am ready to look silly at times, Pride aside I want to be childishly optimistic Live my life unscripted I want to step out on faith I want to dance out in the rain I want to quit running away ‘cause I’m always on the first train When an old bag lady waiting on the red line On the Northeast side Looked dead in my eyes and cried I said “You Good?” And she sighed, then replied Hook: Your miracle is waiting on you But it can’t come ‘til you’re ready So baby what you gon’ do? You’re worth it You’re perfect You deserve it Quite searching You’re worth it You’re perfect You deserve it Quite searching (Repeat 2X) Quit searching on the outside You’ll find your miracle in the right time Make room in your life Won’t you make room in your life Your miracle is waiting on you

WORK IN PROGRESS I want to be a good role model to girls coming after But sometimes I slip up and say some shit that’s ratchet Forgive me I’m a work in progress Most days I’m conscious still I’m a product of my west baltimore environment So please excuse the nigga in me If I get out of pocket in my first class seat If i don’t give a fuck ‘bout what you saying to me If I’m too big for my britches then give me a sheet I need room to grow I’m still figuring it out And if you say you ain’t, you lying Hell you talking ‘bout Balancing single parenting with music business leveraging can get discouraging My mind stay worrying Every morning I just keep emerging To try again Consummating paper to pen French toast scrambled eggs, hot toddy with Gin Homeschool my baby boy to make his mind a weapon He the coolest dude I ever known I grateful for him He an angel how you saying that we made him in sin Me and my baby father just couldn’t keep it together He say I hit him in his mouth, don’t believe what he tell you Some things are only meant for a season I used to hate him now I tell him thank you when I see him I was the plant, he was the seed, love and pain watered us and a man child came to be Most things aint meant forever May 22nd 2007 we split up I slept in a car breastfeeding a baby for half a year For reasons like pride and fear I been through so much shit I’m surprised I’m still standing So every time I see a mirror I pose damnit It’s a celebration, every time I’m waking Even if my angels wake me out my dreams shaking I’m saying One love to my nephew Khalil You’re a king, I can see why God chose you for HIS And through your two sons forever you’ll live These Baltimore streets ain’t deserve you kid And if we find them muthafuckers then you know what it is My bad, I ain’t supposed to be talking like this but this pain don’t contain Political correctness I let it pour out however it come, for ever son, of every mother who never gets to recover Still trying to find new reasons to live To keep moving forward, now with a rawness Like the north wind that ravaged the garden freezing it over Praying to God to one day to get over Gwenie We gotta get over still throwing salt over shoulders and if the devil’s a boulder then God is Mount Everest and Imma die climbing up that bish, Go tell it on the mountain Hook: Go Tell it on the mountain Lean not unto your own understanding OOH, it will lead you astray but trust in the Lord it will be okay, The mountain The cup that is already full Can not receive what God has to pour into I learned that from my grandma and she never finished school Her neck should have been bear from all the dropping of her jewels She heard it in the whispering of the wind Spread the news Good things come to those who wait and pay their dues Little Mississippi never had a pair of shoes ‘til she hit the windy city now she’s got 22 But moving up ain’t always moving right But trust in the lord and He will give you new sight. To see the unseen And know the unknown Instead of living through the tiny window of your ego I ain’t got the answers Sway but this I know We’re all works in progress trying to find our way home on the mountain Hook: Go Tell it on the mountain Lean not unto your own understanding OOH, it will lead you astray but trust in the Lord it will be okay, The mountain

about

Who Are The Vintage Babies?

Vintage Babies is the title of the collaborative album and super group created by Grammy nominated singer, songwriter, and MC, Maimouna Youssef aka Mumu Fresh and producer, Dj, and musical director Dj Dummy The Genius collectively known as The Vintage Babies. The Vintage Babies’ album consists of 17 soul and hip hop head bangers and features musical greats like Grammy & Oscar award winning Common, as well as some incredible songwriting and vocal help from Top Dawg’s own SIR, Malik Yusef , and Baltimore’s Rose Gold from the Polly seeds.

Vintage Babies is a Revival of the Soul, Funk, & Gospel sounds that Hip hop was founded on. The aim of Vintage Babies is celebrate the resilience and power of the human spirit through the utilization of the soulful sounds that have gotten us through difficult times in our history and will surely continue to do so for years to come. Vintage Babies will pull on an array of emotional strings sending you into lucid euphoric dance states in one moment then transition you into deep thought provoking storytelling about the state of humanity in the next moment with a little comic relief in between.
This is not the first time Dj Dummy and Maimouna Youssef have collaborated. They have toured together for several years with Rapper/Actor Common and in 2014 they released a mixtape together entitled the Reintroduction of Mumu Fresh. Dj Dummy and Maimouna Youssef aka Mumu Fresh are not new to the music scene but if your ears are new to the sounds they’ve been creating and curating for almost a decade then check out their track records.

Dj Dummy has been J Cole’s DJ and on tour Music Direct since 2010 and Common’s DJ and Music Director since 1999. He started out djing at the age of 7 and by 14 he was winning prestigious dj battles in NYC like the Zulu Nation Battle (96) ad American DMC Battle (98). Since then he has both dj’ed and/or created stage shows for artists like Talibe Kewli, Kanye West, Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, & De La Soul among others. He has even graced the halls of the prestigious venue affectionately known as The White House per request of 44th President Barack Obama. Dj Dummy is no newbee to the scene but he is just getting started in terms of making a name for himself as a worldwide producer and Vintage Babies is just the beginning.
His talents have attracted many of hip-hop’s premier artists, throughout the years; he has worked closely on creating stage shows and/or DJing concerts all over the world, for the likes of J Cole, Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah, Common, Talib Kweli, Kanye West, Music Soulchild, Mos Def, De La Soul, A+, DMX, Onyx, Smoothe The Hustler, going all the way back to Group Home.
DJ Dummy’s almost 20 year career has seen him electrify numerous clubs, tour internationally and entertained clients such as Prince, LeBron James and Venus Williams. It has seen him DJ in the smallest clubs in Brooklyn, to performing at the White House for President Obama. He has formed unbreakable professional relationships with many iconic artists in the industry and he’s been a part of historic moments in Hip-Hop. And this is only the beginning of DJ Dummy’s legacy, so it’s safe to say, you can certainly learn a lot from a dummy.
